The Busoga region and Uganda as a whole are celebrating a major milestone with the upcoming flag-off of the first chilli container destined for China.
The event, set to be officiated by President H.E. Kaguta Museveni, underscores the growing partnership between the Busoga Consortium for Development and the China-Uganda Agricultural Cooperation Industrial Park.
According to Dr. Anthony Mula, Director General of the Busoga Consortium for Development, the export marks a significant achievement for both the region and the country, highlighting progress in Uganda’s agricultural exports.
The chilli container is expected to strengthen trade ties between Uganda and China, boosting the local economy and improving livelihoods for farmers in Busoga.
The consortium has been actively promoting agricultural development and commercialisation in the sub-region, focusing on value addition and expanding market access.
The China-Uganda Agricultural Cooperation Industrial Park is set to play a central role in facilitating these exports, providing Ugandan farmers with opportunities to access the vast Chinese market and further integrate into international trade.
