Sembabule — Prominent lawyer and parliamentary aspirant Jet John Tumwebaze has been duly nominated by the Electoral Commission to contest for the Mawogola North parliamentary seat, promising to prioritise education and peace in the area.
Speaking shortly after his nomination, Tumwebaze emphasised that education remains his top priority, describing it as the most effective way to transform lives and empower communities.
“My focus will be on improving education because it is the key to changing people’s lives,” My mother everything that was belonging to her to educate me and education changed my life Tumwebaze said.
The lawyer-turned-politician also urged the people of Mawogola North to vote for leaders based on merit rather than party affiliation, noting that the NRM’s dominance in the area should not stop voters from choosing the candidate they truly believe in.
“For a long time, the NRM card has been taken for granted here in Mawogola North. But now it’s time for people to elect a flag bearer of their choice,” and I am the flag because on 15th, January 2026 I will be declared as the MP of Mawogola North, he said.
Tumwebaze further called for an end to what he described as the “politics of the gun”, saying residents have grown weary of intimidation and coercion.
“It’s time to reject politics driven by fear. People deserve to live and choose freely without being threatened,” he added.
