Nakawa East Member of Parliament and National Unity Platform (NUP) aspirant for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat, Ronald Balimwezo, has pledged to deliver a corruption-free administration, uphold the rule of law, and prioritize job creation for the city’s youth if elected.

Addressing the media ahead of his nomination by the Kampala Electoral Region Office in Ntinda, Balimwezo said his campaign would focus on restoring integrity and improving service delivery in the capital.

“Kampala deserves transparent leadership that works for all residents. My administration will tackle corruption, create opportunities for our young people, and ensure the rule of law is respected,” Balimwezo told journalists.

Balimwezo, who has served extensively in local government before becoming an MP, is now aiming for the city’s top office. His candidacy on the NUP ticket positions him as a key contender in what is expected to be a hotly contested race for the Lord Mayor seat.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has reminded all aspirants not to engage in full-scale campaigns until the official period is declared. EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi urged candidates to comply with the regulations to ensure a fair process.

The Kampala Lord Mayor election is widely seen as a crucial battleground in shaping the city’s governance and the broader political landscape of Uganda’s capital.
