He noted that the school has for long lacked a kitchen, exposing pupils to health and safety risks, and emphasized that the hall will provide a safe and decent environment for meals, academics, and extracurricular activities.

Kitakule urged the school administration to safeguard all Rotary-supported projects.

Headteacher Winfred Litta  expressed gratitude to the club and the District Governor for prioritizing the needs of her school.

“With over 500 pupils, we surely needed a hall to accommodate them during examinations and for dining. Rotary Bulindo has supported us structure-wise and health-wise, and we are very grateful,” she said.

The Rotary Club of Bulindo has previously supported Nambogo Memorial Primary School in fencing the compound, establishing a water project to improve sanitation, and constructing a modern toilet block.

George Musisi, a leader and founding president of the club, recalled that the idea of a multipurpose hall was identified during his tenure.

“This being a public school that supports many vulnerable parents, we fundraised to set up a place where children can eat from and also sit their exams in a decent environment,” Musisi explained.

The groundbreaking capped a busy weekend for the Rotary Club of Bulindo, which also hosted a two-day free medical camp at St. Francis Primary School, attracting thousands of residents.

Closing the camp, District Governor Kitakule lauded the initiative and called on Ugandans to embrace regular medical checkups.

Club President Paul Percy Lubega said the outreach reflected Rotary’s mission of fighting disease and serving communities.

“We are offering immunizations, counseling, mental health services, blood donation, and screenings for major illnesses. This is the most comprehensive camp we have ever held, and we aim to make it an annual event,” Lubega said, noting that the camp targeted over 1,000 residents.

Through these initiatives, the Rotary Club of Bulindo reaffirmed its mission of creating lasting change in communities, one project at a time.
