Police in Entebbe are investigating a tragic house fire that claimed the lives of three young sisters in Mpala Cell, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District, in the early hours of Friday morning.
The victims have been identified as Ellah Namiru, 12, Amani Namulema, 5, and Namujju Tamale, 3.
Preliminary reports suggest their mother, Julie Nalubwama, had left them alone at home, while their father, Kavuma Lenon, was away in Jinja for work.
The blaze is believed to have broken out around 1:00 a.m. and was first reported by the area LC1 chairperson.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said the Fire and Rescue Services team responded quickly and managed to put out the flames.
Two of the children were found outside the burnt house, while the third was discovered inside, burnt beyond recognition.
Police have processed the scene, taken witness statements, and moved the bodies to the City Mortuary for a postmortem.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
