NRM spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa, while appearing on Sanyuka Morning Xpress today, shared honest thoughts about the recent political situation.
He said that the caucus which met last Friday was organised by the party itself, as part of their regular monthly meetings. The main issue they discussed was the violence that happened during the NRM primaries. According to him, some MPs suggested that the number of constituencies should be reduced. Others felt that a panel should be created to guide the nomination process, including members from different political parties.
Mulindwa also admitted that in some areas, NRM has “donated” seats to the opposition. He explained that in certain constituencies, votes are now being divided. Still, he was clear that not everyone who lost in the primaries was cheated; some lost fairly, and others were genuinely robbed. That, he said, is why the party has put a tribunal in place to look into the complaints.
Despite the problems, he firmly stated, “We are still the better option for Ugandans.”
Mulindwa’s comments showed a rare mix of honesty and confidence, recognising the party’s weaknesses but still standing by its vision.
