“Whether you win or lose, there must be a beating. That’s what life is all about.”

That powerful reflection came from Senior Commissioner of Prisons Frank Baine as he sat down on Next Radio’s Meet The Boss segment, part of the Morning Switch, hosted by Ronnie McVex, Victoria Sibiya, and Uncle Mark, live every weekday from 6 AM to 10 AM on Next Radio, Uganda’s first audio-visual station and home of big hits.

Baine, who’s spent over three decades in Uganda Prisons, spoke candidly about the weight of leadership, the long days that often end with 2 AM security meetings and the grit it takes to serve in some of the country’s toughest assignments, including Kotido during disarmament.

But more than his career milestones, it was his philosophy that lingered. “You don’t run your program in this job,” he said, highlighting the discipline, patience, and mental strength that have kept him grounded.

Now, with dreams of full-time farming ahead, Baine reminded listeners that service isn’t just about duty; it’s about evolving, enduring, and staying human through it all.
