It is alleged that both the truck and the two motorcycles were heading in the same direction from Nebbi towards Arua City when the incident occurred. Two unidentified male adults died on the spot and a woman was seriously injured in a tragic road accident that occurred on the evening of Tuesday, 18th June 2025, at Awindiri Trading Center along the Arua–Nebbi Road.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Collins Asea, the West Nile Region Police Public Relations Officer, the fatal crash happened at approximately 8:45 PM and involved a Sino truck with dual registration numbers CGO3918AC and CGO4033AC, as well as two motorcycles: a Bajaj Boxer with registration number UFV725P and a numberless Senke motorcycle bearing chassis number LGVSJP1O6PZ302245.

“It is alleged that both the truck and the two motorcycles were heading in the same direction from Nebbi towards Arua City when the incident occurred. One of the motorcycle riders, who was carrying sacks of silver fish, attempted to overtake the truck from the left side. In the process, one of the sacks hit the truck’s body, pulling the motorcycle and its occupants under the vehicle’s tires,” SP Asea explained.

The violent impact killed both the motorcycle rider and his passenger instantly. Police say their identities had not yet been confirmed by press time.

A third person, identified as Collet Anguparu, 25, a resident of Wandi in Terego District, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

“Traffic officers responded swiftly to the incident. The scene was secured and examined, and the bodies of the deceased were transported to Arua City Mortuary for postmortem,” SP Asea noted.

He confirmed that the driver of the Sino truck is currently in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations, while the rider of the second motorcycle, registered UFV725P, is still at large.

Both motorcycles and the truck have been impounded and are parked at Arua Central Police Station pending further inspection.

“The precise cause of the accident remains under investigation. We urge all road users to exercise extreme caution, especially when overtaking,” SP Asea cautioned.

The incident was officially registered under TSD 07/18/06/2025 and TAR:099/2025 at Arua City Central Police Station.
