Mbarara City Council Endorses 2025 Qadh Run, Backs Muslim Radio Station Initiative

Mbarara City Council has reaffirmed its support for the Mbarara Qadh Run 2025, strengthening its partnership with the event ahead of its highly anticipated fourth edition on April 13, 2025.

This commitment was solidified during a strategic meeting between the City Council leadership and a delegation from the Qadh Run, led by Chairperson Hon. Marina Salima, at the council headquarters.

Since the event’s inception in 2022, the council, under the leadership of Lord Mayor Robert Kakyebezi, has been a steadfast ally of the Qadh Run.

Representing the mayor during the meeting, Kiconco Halima, Clerk to Council (MCC), commended the initiative for its role in fostering unity and development within Mbarara’s Muslim community and the city at large.

“We acknowledge the transformative work of Mbarara District Qadh, Mr. Abdallah Mukwaya,” Kiconco remarked. “His leadership aligns perfectly with our vision to elevate Mbarara into a model city. The ‘Run for the Voice of Faith’ theme—dedicated to establishing Western Uganda’s first Muslim-owned radio station—is a visionary step that will serve not only Muslims but the entire region. The council fully supports this cause.”

The 2025 Qadh Run will kick off at Global High School grounds, with the City Council pledging crucial logistical support, including advertising permissions, security arrangements, road access, and active participation by council staff, city leaders, and Mayor Kakyebezi himself.

Salima expressed gratitude for the council’s continued endorsement, emphasizing the event’s role in fostering interfaith dialogue and community development.

She highlighted the significance of the proposed radio station, which aims to amplify educational and cultural content while bridging communication gaps in Western Uganda.

With the City Council’s firm backing, organizers anticipate a record turnout and a greater impact, further solidifying the Mbarara Qadh Run as a powerful force for social cohesion and progress.
