Hands Off Our General, PLU Supporters Tell MPs

Supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), led by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, staged a peaceful demonstration today, marching towards Parliament to deliver a petition to Speaker Anita Among.
The protest was aimed at condemning certain Members of Parliament (MPs) whom they accuse of consistently attacking their leader, Gen. Muhoozi, in parliamentary debates.

Under heavy security, PLU supporters voiced their frustration, claiming that some MPs have repeatedly used parliamentary sessions to criticize Gen. Muhoozi over what they termed as baseless issues.
"We have heard MPs, especially Honourable Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, constantly bringing up Gen. Muhoozi in his points of procedure and order, yet when it comes to discussing serious national matters, he is nowhere to be seen," said Daudi Kabanda, the PLU general secretary
Kabanda emphasized that the PLU had decided to take action to put an end to what he called unwarranted political attacks.
"This nonsense must stop with President Museveni’s leadership. If some politicians spend all their time politicking, when will they work for the people?" he asked.
The PLU supporters insist that they are not against free speech but want MPs to focus on constructive debates that benefit Ugandans rather than engaging in what they see as personal attacks against Gen. Muhoozi.
