The organizers emphasized the importance of regular exercise, a healthy diet, and regular medical checkups in the fight against cancer and other lifestyle diseases.
Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick, during her visit to Uganda, commended Rotarians for their unwavering efforts to fight cancer. She made the remarks while visiting the Cancer Centre at Nsambya Hospital where she launched the 14th Edition of the Cancer Run, scheduled for Sunday, August 31, 2025. The run will take place in Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja, and other major cities across Uganda, as well as in select cities worldwide.
"Cancer is a major health concern in Uganda and many parts of the world. It is encouraging that Rotarians in Uganda have made this a priority," said President Urchick, after visiting the 36-bed ward built and equipped by Rotarians and their partners. She emphasized that the establishment of a comprehensive Cancer Centre in Uganda would significantly improve access to treatment for many.
President Urchick, the second woman to hold the Rotary International Presidential office, is currently on an African tour. She urged Rotarians to continue their dedicated efforts to complete the Cancer Centre. During her visit, she launched a donation application, kicked off participant registration for the 14th Edition Cancer Run, and unveiled a plaque in her honor at the construction site of additional facilities for the Centre.
