According to eyewitness accounts, Olobo lost control of his vehicle and rammed into a tree along the road. The impact shattered the vehicle's windscreen and ejected him from the car.

Kalaki District Assistant Engineer Moses Olobo has been killed in a road accident.

The accident occurred at Olianai in Kakure Sub-county at around 10am on Monday as Olobo was travelling from Soroti back to Kalaki.

According to witness accounts, Olobo lost control of his vehicle and rammed into a tree along the road. The impact shattered the vehicle's windscreen and ejected him from the car.

Bystanders rushed to the scene and attempted to render assistance. Olobo was transported to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, where medical teams worked tirelessly to stabilise him.

However, as his condition worsened, plans were made to transfer him to Mbale for advanced care. He succumbed to his injuries before reaching the facility.

Dr Clement Ongalo Obote, the minister of State for Teso Affairs, confirmed the news during his address to the Teso Development Association (TESDA) delegates.

He expressed profound sorrow at the loss, highlighting Engineer Olobo’s significant contributions to Kalaki and the Teso sub-region.

“Engineer Moses Olobo was a pillar of our community, a dedicated professional who gave his all for the growth of Kalaki District,” Dr Ongalo said.

“His death is a tragic loss not only to his family but to the entire Teso sub-region.”

Engineer Olobo was a well-respected figure within Kalaki Town Council and beyond, known for his commitment to improving infrastructure and development in the district.

As of now, police have not yet released an official statement on the incident, leaving many unanswered questions about the circumstances of the tragic accident.

Olobo’s passing leaves a deep void in his family, workplace, and the wider community, which continues to grapple with the shock of his untimely death.
