Chloride Exide Uganda, a leading provider of energy solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Huawei to bring Huawei’s advanced Smart Photovoltaic (PV) solutions to the Ugandan market.
This collaboration aims to harness Huawei’s innovative inverter technology to revolutionise solar energy use in Uganda’s industrial and commercial sectors.

Speaking at the launch, Ivan Muyomba, Huawei’s Solar Country Manager, highlighted the transformative potential of the partnership.
“Chloride Exide has established itself as a trusted provider in the East African solar market, distributing key components like batteries, inverters, and panels,” he said.
“For Huawei, this partnership is about fostering collaboration rather than merely conducting transactions.”
The focus is on introducing systems designed to offset grid power with solar energy during the day.
Muyomba emphasised the critical role Chloride Exide plays in driving solar adoption, making them an ideal partner for Huawei’s mission to expand renewable energy solutions.
Edward Ritchie, Chloride Exide’s Divisional Business Executive, outlined the specific focus on higher-end applications.
“Our systems, ranging from 20 to 115 kilowatts, are designed to meet the demands of the industrial and commercial sectors,” he said.
While acknowledging their ability to serve residential customers, Ritchie emphasised the push toward industrial applications to fast-track renewable energy adoption.
The event served as a platform for regional channel partners, electric power companies, and photovoltaic industry institutions to explore the latest in solar innovation.
Attendees were introduced to Huawei’s Smart PV solutions, known for their efficiency, scalability, and sustainability, which align with Uganda’s growing need for clean, reliable energy.
Ritchie noted mixed pricing trends for solar technologies in 2024 but reaffirmed the commitment to delivering cost-effective, high-performance solutions to offset reliance on grid power.
