Pebuu Africa and Hamilton Telecom have announced a strategic partnership aimed at advancing digital transformation across Uganda.
This collaboration will see Hamilton Telecom utilize Pebuu’s extensive network to enhance the distribution and retail management of telecom services offered by its subsidiary, Paxtel Telecom, reaching underserved communities throughout the country.
“This partnership represents a crucial step in our mission to empower local communities across Uganda by expanding access to digital services in finance, telecommunications, and retail distribution through scalable technology solutions,” said Pebuu Africa CEO John Paul Ssemyalo during the launch meeting at Hamilton Telecom’s headquarters in Kololo.
Pebuu, with over 320 service points supporting more than 50,000 SMEs nationwide, is set to help Hamilton Telecom expand its reach to remote regions, including isolated areas like Bugala Island, refugee camps such as Bidi Bidi and Rhino, and even national parks like Kibale.
By leveraging Pebuu’s strong distribution network, the partnership aims to facilitate Paxtel’s service rollout across Uganda, ensuring comprehensive coverage and seamless delivery.
Hamilton Telecom’s Board Chairman, John Kamya, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, citing the chance to enhance customer experiences and bring quality mobile services to even the most remote communities.
The Uganda Communications Commission’s Q4 2024 report indicates substantial growth in the digital sector, with 38.5 million telephone subscribers and 16.4 million mobile internet users.
This expansion underscores the vast potential for businesses to shape Uganda’s digital communications and financial services landscape.
Pebuu’s advanced technology, featuring real-time tracking and geo-mapping, will play a critical role in streamlining customer on boarding, retailer training, mapping, and service monitoring.
Trusted by major banks like Stanbic, Centenary, and Housing Finance for managing digital channels, Pebuu’s solutions support regulatory compliance and efficient operations of agent banking networks nationwide.
This partnership aligns with Pebuu’s commitment to bridge traditional and digital communities through technology solutions across finance, retail, and mobile connectivity.
With Paxtel Telecom planning to introduce innovative services such as mobile money and tailored data packages, the collaboration is set to play a vital role in Uganda’s digital development journey.
