CAMTech Uganda is leading an educational revolution with its Robotics program, designed to ignite creativity and develop technical skills in children. This innovative holiday program is transforming how kids engage with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
The program offers a unique opportunity for children to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Participants dive into the world of robotics, where they explore fundamental concepts through hands-on activities.
Illemut Ivan, the Robotics Coordinator at CAMTech, outlines the program's impact. “Our Robotics training is designed to introduce children to the fascinating world of robotics that will enhance their understanding of theoretical concepts taught in class and spark an interest in STEM-related careers,” he explains.
Throughout the course, children engage with essential robotics components, including electronics, sensors, motors, and mechanical systems. They learn how these elements work together to create functioning robots. “Children get to code, tinker, and assemble various projects, applying what they’ve learned to solve real-world challenges,” Ivan says.
A standout feature of the program is its user-centered design thinking approach. Before starting their projects, children interact with and understand challenges in their communities. This approach ensures that the solutions they develop are relevant and impactful. “We encourage kids to tackle problems they see in their own environments,” Ivan adds.
As the program progresses, participants receive training in project pitching and communication. “Effective communication is key. We teach children how to pitch their ideas clearly and confidently,” Ivan notes. This skill is vital for their future success in any field.
The program concludes with a showcase event where children present their projects and receive certificates. “The final day is a celebration of their hard work and creativity.
It’s an opportunity for them to demonstrate what they’ve achieved and be recognized for their efforts,” Ivan explains.
CAMTech Uganda’s Robotics program, scheduled for 26 August to 6 September, is making significant strides in preparing children for future careers in technology and engineering.
By sparking early interest in STEM, the program contributes to addressing the growing need for skilled professionals in Uganda.
With its focus on hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving, CAMTech’s initiative is setting a new standard for educational programs in Uganda.
