Entebbe leaders asked to sensitize public on govt programs

Entebbe municipality leaders have stressed the need to sensitize the public about the importance of mindset changes when participating in government programs aimed at eradicating poverty and achieving economic transformation.

During a one-day capacity-building training for top leaders and counselors, they committed to prioritizing development with dignity in implementing government projects.

Over 100 Entebbe municipality leaders from divisions A and B were trained on implementing government programs and will act as change agents to sensitize the public on the relevance of participating in government projects.

Lutakome Imran Kigongo, CEO of Ethical African Organization, said they aim to help the government identify existing gaps hindering government programs by incorporating dignity aspects to realize impact on the ground.

Muwaya Ibrahim, Chief of Operations at Ethical African Organization, emphasized that if development programs achieve their goals, people's dignity should be prioritized.

The training aims to empower leaders and bring them to the realization.

The engagement also tasked policymakers to include local voices in all development initiatives and treat people as adults capable of making sound decisions on development matters.

The training program commenced in Entebbe due to its diversity of economic activities and will be rolled out in other districts to aid the government in spreading the importance of prioritizing government projects for economic transformation.

Attendees commended Ethical African Organization for initiating capacity-building initiatives to enable leaders to understand their mandate and responsibilities while serving their respective capacities.

The training comes at a time when some groups in Entebbe have not yet fully benefited from government programs like Emyooga and PDM, attributed to a poor mindset among the people.

Ethical African Organization is a community-based organization in Entebbe focused on improving societies through advocating for better economic policies.
