UPDF inaugurates new Sacco building in Fort Portal

The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) have inaugurated Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) Building in Fort Portal City.

The building, inaugurated by Maj Gen Richard Otto, commander of the Mountain Division, is expected to boost the financial empowerment of both the military personnel and the local community.

The three-storey building, located in the heart of the city, offers a total rental space of 1,161.45 square meters, positioning it as a significant commercial hub in the area.

The newly inaugurated property not only serves as a commercial asset but also houses WSACCO's 10th cash operating branch, further extending financial services to UPDF members and the general public.

In his remarks, Gen Otto highlighted the importance of such developments in enhancing the financial stability of soldiers and their families, emphasizing that the facility is a testament to WSACCO's commitment to improving the welfare of its members.

The building's rental income will also contribute to the sustainability of WSACCO, ensuring that it continues to offer valuable financial services to its members.
