Security forces hailed for engaging with communities

The  Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, John Mulimba  alongside commanders from the Joint Security Forces, has initiated a series of civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) activities in Busia District.

These initiatives, aimed at environmental improvement, will conclude with a thanksgiving event on 9 August 2024, anticipated to be attended by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Speaking at the Red Cross Busia Health Centre IV, Minister Mulimba commended the security forces for their partnership with the local community.

"These CIMIC activities are in preparation for the President's visit and highlight the joint security forces' dedication to community involvement," he remarked.

Col Robert Rutainama, Cantonment Commander of Rubongi Military Barracks, representing Maj Gen Don William Nabasa, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, emphasized the forces' commitment to CIMIC initiatives.

"Our efforts are focused on giving back to the community, preventing disease outbreaks, improving sanitation, and fostering unity, strengthening our longstanding relationship with the people," he noted.

Suzan Wandera , Deputy Mayor of Busia Municipality, expressed appreciation for the security forces' collaboration with the civilian population.

The week-long activities will include public hygiene and sanitation efforts in urban areas, markets, health facilities, and sports events such as football and netball in Busia District.
