A delegation from the National Unity Platform (NUP) has today faced off with police top dogs in a closed-door meeting to resolve on how the party can freely engage in national consultations.

Police last week blocked NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi from going to Kamuli and Pallisa for the first two legs of his itinerary that covers eastern Uganda before heading up north.

Kyagulanyi announced they will be holding a meeting with police to resolve their differences and come up with ways on how to move forward.

NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi and secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya led the team that met with police in a closed-door meeting.

They were also in company of NUP counsel George Musisi, NUP national mobiliser Nyanzi Ssentamu, among others.

The police team is said to be led by the newly-appointed director of operations, Frank Mwesigwa.

In this meeting the media has also been blocked with Police not able to explain why.

This said the have been solely a police decision as their media was allowed to cover the meeting.

However, an insider told Nile Post the NUP also questioned why other media was blocked and yet police media were allowed.

Police then saw off its own media team as well.
