The Banyarwanda community in Uganda is feeling ostracized. Claiming a pattern of segregation and violated citizenship rights, they've petitioned Speaker of Parliament Anita Among for intervention.

Frank Gashumba, Joseph Ssewungu, Professor Muganga, and others from the community outlined their grievances. Ugandan Banyarwanda, they say, are denied not only national IDs and passports but also the ability to buy or sell land.

This alleged discrimination stands in stark contrast to their inclusion during elections, where they are allowed to participate freely. The petitioners see this inconsistency as a glaring injustice.

Speaker Among acknowledged their petition and pledged action. She plans to request an explanation from the Minister of Internal Affairs. Additionally, the petition will be referred to a relevant parliamentary committee for further scrutiny.
