‘There are no dead heroes,’ Kato Lubwama on why he took off during parliament scuffle

Rubaga South Member of Parliament, Kato Lubwama has defended his deliberate absence from the September 27 parliament scuffle.

On the fateful day, a section of suspended legislators affiliated to the opposition were forcibly fetched from the House chambers by plain clothed security operatives, after speaker gave them marching orders.

In the event, a scuffle ensued and a number of legislators were injured, others arrested while several property was destroyed.

However, Kato Lubwama missed out in the scuffle after he sneaked out of the House citing health issues.

Speaking to NBS TV on Tuesday, the legislator said he had to sneak out because he wanted to live to die another day.

“First Nsereko (Kampala Central MP) told me that things will not be good, so when everything started, I had to run away because of my health,” he said.

“We do not have dead heroes, when you die in this country they just forget you, so I had to run away. In a military government like this one, you have to sit on the door like I did, anything can happen anytime,” he added.

Kato Lubwama was seen twirling as his colleagues incessantly sang the national anthem in bid to frustrate NRM MPs from tabling a motion seeking leave for Magyezi to prepare the age limit bill.

Although he says he has not yet seen the video, he confirms that a section of people from the public have already commended him for having nice dance styles and singing well.

“People like the video, they liked my strokes, my movements, they liked how I was singing at the same time dancing, it was a good feeling for them,” he said.
