Beer dealer robbed of shs 10 million on gun point

The territorial police in Njeru and Buikwe district are investigating an armed robbery in which a prominent beer dealer was robbed at gunpoint of shs10 million.

According to police, the victim, Margret Semiyagi, was attacked on Monday night by three assailants, one of whom was armed with a machine gun and held her at gunpoint before fleeing with cash.

“The victim narrated to police that she had reached her home at Kyabagu zone, Njeru West ward and while still inside her vehicle registration number UBE 850W- priemo silver, three people one of them holding a gun, opened the car door and put her on gun point and was ordered to hand over everything she was having,” said Hellen Butoto, the police spokesperson for Sezibwa region.

It is said that Semiyagi  handed to them shs10 million, a key to the depot and a smartphone with two lines in it.

Without hurting her, they discharged one bullet in the air and went to unknown destination. However, some eye witnesses narrate that they used a get away motorcycle which was not identified.

Butoto said that although the assailants are still at large, police is hunting for them promising that they will be apprehended.

The police spokesperson however cautioned all business persons in her jurisdiction to avoid moving with bulk cash as they can easily be targeted by criminals.
