Lucy Nakyobe, Chairperson of the National Organising Committee for the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit and G77+China summits, has completed final inspections of the road infrastructure that will be used during the twin summits, which will take place in Kampala from January 15th to 20th.

She carried out this critical assessment over the weekend with the Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and Allen Kagina of the Uganda National Roads Authority, both of whom are members of the organising committee.

According to her, all preparations have been completed, and Uganda is now prepared to host more than 160 delegations from 135 countries. The Queens Way, Mukwano Road, and Gaba Road to Speke Resort Munyonyo, where the twin summits will be held, are among the roads being evaluated.

She stated that only "auxiliary works" on infrastructure remain, such as road signs and lane demarcation on some roads, such as the newly opened Kampala flyover, whose pedestrian walkway opens today.

Several roads, including Cape/Wavamuno Road, Ggaba Road, Mukwano Road, and Press House Road, have undergone drainage repair and pavement improvement including the installation of culvert crossings for drainage on Cape Road (Auto Spa) and Ggaba Road (Bunga-Soya).

Also, routes leading to selected hotels and diversion routes during the summit, such as UCB Rise, Mobutu Road, Prince Badru Kakungulu Road, Salaama Road, Tankhill, and Seriso Road, have been repaired and enhanced.

On Saturday, the chief organizer also visited Speke Resort Munyonyo, the prestigious venue for the summits where

businessman Sudhir Ruparelia assured her that preparations would be done on January 10.

Relatedly, the transport department of the organizing committee has conducted drills on how they will drive delegates to and from the conference venue
