In anticipation of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77 Summits slated for this month in Kampala, Uganda, a contingent of Chinese experts has arrived to provide comprehensive driver training. These specialists, collaborating closely with Ugandan Ministries of Works, Transport, and Foreign Affairs, will equip selected drivers with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate the recently donated fleet of 140 Maxus D90 SUVs.

"Having arrived yesterday," stated His Excellency Zhang Lizhong, Ambassador of China to Uganda, "these experts, alongside Ugandan engineers, will oversee both driver training and maintenance of the 140 SUVs generously provided by China for the upcoming summits." This initiative builds upon the initial donation of 70 vehicles before the pandemic-induced postponement of the summits. Until the complete fleet's arrival, driver training remained on hold.

Uganda's readiness to host the twin summits – the 19th NAM Heads of State and Government convening at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort from January 15th to 20th – is evident. The anticipated attendance includes dignitaries from at least 168 delegations representing 135 nations, numerous international organizations, and observer states.

Vincent Bagire, Permanent Secretary of the Ugandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed the invaluable support extended by international bodies such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in summit preparations. Notably, UNDP contributions include 60 desktop computers and Wi-Fi access points, bolstering the event's technological infrastructure.

The Kampala summits stand as a platform for the 134 member states to reaffirm their solidarity, unity, and shared aspirations. By speaking with a unified voice, they seek to propel collective goals and objectives forward.
