Police are looking into the death of a city businessman called Henry Katanga, who was shot at his home in Mbuya, a leafy suburb of Kampala, under mysterious circumstances.

This occurred on Thursday morning and was reported to the Bugolobi police station, which initiated an investigation.

According to reports, the deceased and his family members are among Uganda's top suppliers to the Ministry of Defence and the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF), whose shooting has shocked many.

Although police have not readily provided details about this tycoon's death, sources claim that he was killed as a result of domestic violence.

The deceased is said to have been killed after a fight with his wife, Molly Katanga, but it has not yet been determined who exactly pulled the trigger because the woman was also found unconscious in their bedroom.

“The couple first had a quarrel before a big bang was heard. When their daughter called Tricia rushed to the bedroom, she found when her father was dead and bleeding from the head,” a source said

Police recovered a pistol from the scene and interviewed some family members who were present at the time of the shooting.

Molly Katanga, the wife, has been admitted to International Hospital Kampala for treatment while the investigation is ongoing.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago hospital mortuary where it is undergoing postmortem.

This is a developing story.
