Tourism Ministry to introduce cable cars for less able tourists in Uganda
State Minister for Tourism Geoffrey Kiwanda has said Uganda will be receiving four million tourists by the year 2020 up from the 1.7 million tourists the country receives each year.
Kiwanda made the claim while addressing the press at Uganda Media Centre during the second day of the NRM Manifesto Week.

Minister Kiwanda said that the ministry is also looking at promoting religious tourism to further maximise the attraction of certain religious centres in the country.
Kiwanda pointed out that it is a shame that certain centres like Namugongo Martyrs Shrine is only capitalised on once a year in June yet it is a site of pilgrimage for the different faiths.
The ministry is also ambitiously looking at introducing technological innovations in the sector. Kiwanda said that in order to cater for tourists who are physically challenged, the country plans to introduce cable cars especially for activities like mountain climbing.
The ministry will work with communities that neighbour many of these tourist sites to reduce on wildlife and human conflict. Farmers whose crops are destroyed by marauding animals will be compensated.
