MP Kagabo apologises for returning Shs 40 million 'bribe'

Bukoto South MP, Dr Twaha Kagabo has finally apologised to Speaker Anita Among and to legislators for tarnishing the image of the August House when he returned the alleged bribe of Shs 40 million that was given to him as appreciation for passing the supplementary budget.

Speaking in the Tuesday Parliamentary sitting, Kagabo told legislators that after deep reflection, he decided to apologise to the House and drop allegations that he received the money from the home of Among.

Last month, Kagabo made headlines when he carried Shs 40 million to the office of to leader of opposition Mathias Mpuuga claiming that he had gotten the money from Among's residence in Nakasero.

Kagabo then said he was responding to the directive of Robert Kyagulanyi, the president of the National Unity Party (NUP) who had told party MPs who had received the money to return it.

Kagabo's apology however, will not save him from appearing before the committee on Rules, Discipline and Privileges, the chairperson of the probe Abdu Katuntu confirmed.
