Next Media, BBC sign landmark partnership

One of Next Media's stated goals is to better  journalism in Uganda and the continent at large.

As such Uganda's leading multimedia organisation today signed a partnership with global media giant, the British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC) to create a platform  to better African journalism.

The ceremony took place at Media Plaza, where NBS TV's offices are located.

The partnership will seek to advance investigative journalism, where NBS TV has carved out a niche.

Joe Kigozi, the Chief of Strategy at Next Media said the partnership will improve the quality of journalism.

"Such brilliant journalism at play will now be at the disposal of viewers on the continent produced by the two best players," Kigozi said.

The two-year contract will bring forth  eye-catching  productions  like African Eye an investigative show, Sport Africa, a sports show, and What’s New, a children’s show.

Rachael Akidi, the head of East African Languages at BBC said given NBS TV's influence in  the country,  the world service saw a natural partner

This partnership will strengthen the already vibrant  investigative desk of NBS Television,  that will work directly with the World Service.

The BBC deal is one of the many partnerships NBS Television  has  penned in recent months  to improve  the quality of the practice, and the practitioners.  NBS TV has a partnership with Voice of America (VOA).
