Janet Museveni reappoints Eng. Mugisha as board chairperson of UBTEB

The Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni has reappointed Eng. Silver Mugisha as the board chairperson of Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB).

Mugisha’s reappointment for another three-year tenure (2022-2025) follows his 2019 to 2022 tenure.

His reappointment was confirmed at an event officiated on Wednesday by the State Minister for Higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo.

UBTEB is a statutory national assessment body mandated to regulate and conduct national examinations, award certificates and diplomas in the business, technical and vocational professions in Uganda.

Accordingly, Mugisha will lead a team of 15 board members inline with the statutory instrument 2009 No.9 that established UBTEB.

The team comprises of; Dr Umar, Maud Kamatenesi, Deus Mutesigensi Faida, Nakyobe Safinah, David Ochieng, David Mubiru Luyima and Richard Musafiri.

Others include; Simon Amuku, John V Twinomujuni, Micheal Ocero, Francis Bongonyinge, John Habiyaremye, Joshua Lukaye and Jennifer Oyuru.

Who is Eng. Silver Mugisha, the board chairperson of UBTEB?

Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha is the Managing Director of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), boasting over 20 years' experience in water utility operations, international policy, research and advisory services.

He has a wide and long experience in water governance, performance improvement planning and institutional development and has contributed to knowledge development in various organizations in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Trinidad &Tobago, India, among others.

Mugisha holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Makerere University, and a Master of Science degree in Sanitary Engineering - Sector Utility Management Option (with Distinction) from UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, Delft, The Netherlands.

He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics and Management from Makerere University.
