Artistes Warned Against Redoing Mowzey Radio Songs

Lawyers representing Moses Ssekibogo also known as Mowzey Radio have warned several musicians against redoing the late musician’s songs.

The Neera singer died in February at Case hospital in Kampala where he had been rushed after sustaining head injuries on January 22at the De Bar, a popular hangout in Entebbe from where he was reportedly beaten up by a bouncer.

In the aftermath of his death, a number of musicians recomposed his songs in a bid to do tributes for the fallen vocalist.

It is reported that before his death, the singer had recorded a number of songs but were still in store after being done under Angel music label.

However, in a notice by Angel music through their lawyers of Katende, Ssempebwa and co advocates, solicitors and legal consultants, musicians have been asked not to reproduce the songs without authorisation.

“It has come to our notice that several persons have started to reproduce substantial parts and also recompose musical works of the late Moses Ssekibogo also known as Mowzey Radio without the license of the copyright owner,” the notice by the lawyers.

In the notice, media houses have also been warned against running adverts using compositions of Radio and Weasel without authorisation.

According to the notice, reproduction of a copyright work involves resemblance to the actual production.

“The copyright owner will not hesitate to invoke the strong arm of the law against any persons or institution that are infringing on the musical works of the late Mowzey Radio,” warns the lawyers.
