Police in Old Kampala is investigating circumstances under which an HIV positive teacher defiled a 16-year-old juvenile.

The suspect has been identified as Nanya Elizabeth, a 42-year-old, female teacher, at Namungoona Kigobe Primary School.

Police preliminary investigations show that the suspect committed the criminal act on December 27, 2021.

According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the suspect lured the male victim to her room at the school staff quarters where she defiled him.

“While in the room, she caused the victim to remove his clothes and indulged into an unlawful act of sexual intercourse,” Enanga said.

Enanga added that the suspect had unprotected sex with the victim, despite well knowing she was HIV positive.

The victim was examined and immediately put on Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).

Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested and is being detained in custody pending court charges.

The police mouthpiece noted that male and female juveniles remain vulnerable and targeted by sexual predators who he says are in most cases not strangers to victims.

“They are usually relatives to the victim or acquaintances such as neighbours, siblings, family friends, teachers etc, who appear to be warm, caring, loving and respectful,” Enanga noted.
