Four more suspects linked to Masaka killings arrested in Kampala

Police and other security agencies have said that they will increase security and continue hunting suspects implicated in the Masaka killings that have left at least 26 people dead.

In the last ten days, no murders or threatening letters have been registered in the region, according to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga.

Addressing journalists at police headquarters Naguru, Enanga said they have arrested four more suspects who are part of the criminal gang that was hired to execute the killings of the innocent citizens in the greater Masaka.

Without going into details, Enanga said during the expanded investigations, four other suspects linked to the same killings in Masaka were apprehended in various parts of Makindye in Kampala over the weekend.

He told the media that the suspects will be transferred to Masaka anytime to be charged.

“We wish to inform the public that relative peace and security has been restored in the greater Masaka district of Lwengo. In our expansive investigations, we rounded up four more suspects whose names we can’t release right now. We tracked them down in Kampala, in connection to the vicious killings," Enanga said.

Although some residents are still living in fear and frustration, Enanga assured them that the joint security task teams are trying their best to put an end to the senseless acts of violence that claimed over 26 innocent lives in the past month.

"The joint security agencies continue to maintain an increased presence in the two districts, in close coordination with local leaders, politicians, community groups and the media among others. We are jointly monitoring the situation and remain united in support for crime reduction and safety, "he noted.
