Crowd nearly lynches opposition whip Nambeshe for knocking cyclist

How Opposition Chief Whip escaped from bring lynched by an angry mob

The Opposition Chief Whip in Parliament,John Baptist Nambeshe yesterday escaped narrowly being lynched by an angry mob after knocking unidentified cyclist in an accident that took place in Njeru township in Buikwe district.

Nambeshe who was from Kampala heading to his constituency on Saturday is alleged to have knocked and injured a person but later tried to escape from the scene.

Some eyes witnesses accused Nambeshe of refusing to stop after realising that he had knocked a person but a boda boda rider went after him until he was intercepted.

According to the eye witness, the mob repeatedly hit Nambeshe’s vehicle and threatened to set it ablaze, however police swung in immediately and the legislator was saved from the angry population .

He was later taken to police station to make a statement.

“I was involved in a minor accident at Mbikko-Njeru Municipality on Kampala-Mbale highway while heading to my constituency of Manjiya in (Bududa district). I survived without a single injury and my driver is also safe," Nambeshe later tweeted.
