The Prime Minister was not affected and continued with her journey to Kampala after a brief delay, sources said.

Two vehicles in a Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja's convoy was involved in an incident Friday evening.

The accident occurred at Lwera swamp in Kalungu District as Ms Nabbanja was returning to Kampala after an official event in Lwengo.

According to Southern Region Police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, two vehicles Toyota Hilux reg. number UG 0861Z and UG 1052Z both were part of the convoy.

Police said the driver of Hilux UG 0861Z started to overtake a truck carrying matooke but abandoned the overtake on noticing an oncoming vehicle.

However, attempt to return to the lane was not successful as another vehicle in the convoy hit it from behind, forcing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Kasirye told the Nile Post that the scene was visited by traffic police in Kalungu and the accident which he identified as serious in nature was registered on a case number TAR58/2024.

According to police, a woman in the convoy whose identity was not readily available to the press, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Nkozi hospital in Mpigi District.

The two vehicles have been towed to Police in Lukaya Town Council.

The Prime Minister was not affected and continued with her journey to Kampala after a brief delay, sources said.

Ms Nabbanja is today officiating at government programmes in districts of Kyotera and Mpigi for the national farmers mobilisation.
