They called upon the EC to extend the exercise in addition to sensitising the electorate on the importance of verifying their names in the voter’s register.

Despite the MPs pleas, the Electoral Commission said the eight day exercise was successful.

The electoral body said millions of voters embraced the exercise.

Jotham Taremwa, the EC spokesperson said the exercise was an overwhelming success.

He said  among other reasons, it was aimed at weeding out dead persons and people who had shifted from the areas.

He assured those that missed out on checking their names that another opportunity will be availed when registration of new voters kicks off next month.
