Parliament top management has created a position of spokesperson in bid to suffocate their embattled Director of Communications Chris Obore.
The new position was communicated to all departments on Tuesday and Obore’s deputy, Hellen Kaweesa appointed to it.
According to a circular by Deputy clerk of parliament Henry Waiswa, the issue of Obore’s accumulated leave has been resolved, but he adds that management has asked him to have someone take over the office.
However, when contacted, Kaweesa claimed she was not filling Obore’s position but she had been appointed parliament spokesperson.
“I am the Assistant Director of Communications; therefore, I am not taking on Obore’s position. However, management has appointed me spokesperson on an interim basis,” she told Nile Post.
Kaweesa said, she will not act in the position of Chris Obore because she has not been duly informed of the same.
“I have only been told to take on the spokesperson role. Management has not told me anything else. I don’t think there is anything to do with Obore’s position,” she added.
Nile Post also understands that Kaweesa will be deputized by Rani Ismail, who had been realigned and sidelined by Obore during his time of office.
Obore was last week ordered on forced leave in a move many suggest would be aimed and hounding him out.
