Members of Parliament-elect from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) are expected to attend a retreat at the National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi early next month, ahead of the swearing-in of the Twelfth Parliament.
According to party officials, the orientation is scheduled to begin on April 7 and will bring together both newly elected and returning NRM legislators.
The retreat is part of the party’s long-standing practice of preparing its members for legislative duties while reinforcing party principles and cohesion.
Officials say the sessions will focus on the NRM’s ideology, governance priorities, and the legislative agenda expected in the new parliamentary term.
Participants will also receive briefings on parliamentary procedures, national development strategies, and their role in implementing government programs.
The Kyankwanzi training has, over the years, served as a platform for aligning party members on key policy positions before major parliamentary business begins. It is also used to build consensus within the party on critical national issues.
The retreat comes at a time when preparations are underway for the opening of the Twelfth Parliament, where newly elected MPs will take the oath of office and begin their legislative responsibilities.
NRM officials maintain that the training is essential in ensuring that members are well-equipped to effectively represent their constituencies while advancing the party’s development agenda.
