A total of 253 Tilenga Project Affected Persons (PAPs) have benefited from TotalEnergies EP Uganda’s annual A’ Level scholarship program since its inception, with male students comprising the majority of recipients.
The beneficiaries come from the four project-host districts of Buliisa, Nwoya, Pakwach, and Masindi. Speaking during the handover of this year’s scholarships in Buliisa, Moses Ogamdhogwa, the company’s senior social site supervisor, said the program aims to enhance education for communities hosting the project.
“This initiative is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the host communities,” Ogamdhogwa explained.
He urged scholarship recipients to remain hardworking, warning that poor academic performance could lead to termination of the two-year scholarship. Parents were also encouraged to remain supportive to help students succeed.
The 2026 scholarships targeted 10 students from Buliisa, 10 from Nwoya, 5 from Masindi, and 5 from Pakwach. Beneficiaries attending Advanced Level studies at secondary schools across the country, including King’s College Buddo, received scholastic materials such as mattresses, suitcases, blankets, bed sheets, mathematical sets, flat irons, raincoats, Bibles, dictionaries, clothing, basins, and jerrycans.
Mariam Babirye, a Masindi Army Senior Four graduate, expressed gratitude for the scholarship, saying it gave her hope for further education despite her parents’ financial constraints.
“I really appreciate TotalEnergies EP Uganda for this scholarship. I never thought I could continue my studies,” she said, urging other female students to work hard for their educational advancement.
Another beneficiary, Marvin Alinaitwe, also thanked TotalEnergies, wishing the project long-term success.
A parent, identified only as Patrick, noted that the program would allow him to focus on educating his other children.
Since 2013, the scholarship initiative has supported the education of Tilenga project-affected communities, promoting learning opportunities and easing financial burdens for students and their families.
