Mt Sion Prayer Centre in Bukalango, Kakiri Sub-county, Busiro County, has begun preparations to mark 25 years of spiritual ministry since it was founded by the late Msgr Expedito Magembe.

The announcement was made by the current head of the centre, Rev Fr James Ssebayigga Buuzabalyawo, while briefing journalists about the programme leading to the silver jubilee celebrations.

Fr Ssebayigga said the prayer centre has become a hub of continuous prayer and worship where many people have experienced spiritual transformation.

“We thank God for the great work He has done through this prayer centre. Many people from different walks of life, including ministers in government and visitors from outside the country, have come here and received blessings,” he said, paying tribute to the late founder for establishing a strong spiritual foundation.

“We are grateful to the late Msgr. Expedito Magembe for the vision he had. The work he started has helped many people regain hope and experience spiritual renewal,” Fr Ssebayigga added, noting that the centre has witnessed countless testimonies and spiritual healings over the years.

“We have seen many miracles and spiritual breakthroughs here. People come with different challenges and leave with renewed faith and hope,” he said.

The main celebrations are scheduled for April 19, 2026, with organisers estimating preparations will cost about one billion shillings, funds they are currently mobilising.

Activities include special prayer sessions for individuals and the nation, as well as fundraising initiatives to support the anniversary.

Part of the proceeds will also go towards completing a retirement home for elderly priests and other development projects at the centre.

The event is expected to attract thousands of believers and religious leaders from across Uganda and beyond.
