Archbishop Kaziimba Launches Drive for  Funds to Modernise Church's Lweza Training and Conference Centre

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, on Friday evening officially launched the Zimba Lweza fundraising drive, an initiative aimed at developing modern accommodation and conference facilities at the Lweza Training and Conference Centre.

The fundraising launch, held at Protea Hotel Kampala, drew several prominent figures from both political and business sectors including Dr Sylvia Alinaitwe, Woman MP-elect for Rukiga District representing the Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, Julius Mucunguzi, Spokesperson of the Electoral Commission, and Eng. Otaremwa Otuhumurize, alongside Hamilton Telecom CEO, the parent company of the Church of Uganda’s communications partner, Paxtel Mobile.

Archbishop Kaziimba highlighted the strategic importance of the Lweza Centre, emphasizing the Church’s commitment to building state-of-the-art accommodation and conference facilities.

"The facility is strategically positioned, and the Church is making every effort to ensure that it offers modern, world-class services for training, conferences, and other engagements,” he said.

The fundraising drive proved successful, with over Shs200 million collected in cash and pledges during the event.

Archbishop Kaziimba revealed that President Museveni has accepted to serve as the Chief Guest at the thanksgiving service for the Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT)—the Church of Uganda’s social and economic arm—and the official launch of the Lweza project, scheduled for March 26, 2026.
