The State Minister for ICT, Godfrey Kabbyanga has commended the organizers of the Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon for maintaining high standards of organization and professionalism.

Speaking during the launch of the fifth edition of the annual sporting event in Kampala, the minister described the marathon as a fast-growing brand that is steadily positioning Kasese on the international tourism map.

“I want to congratulate the organizers for the high-end organization and the professionalism demonstrated in the previous editions of this marathon. It is clear that this event is growing stronger every year,” Kabbyanga said.

He used the occasion to rally investors to consider Kasese as a promising destination for business and tourism-related ventures.

Kabbyanga noted that government and development partners are already investing in infrastructure and amenity upgrades to match the increasing profile of the marathon and other tourism activities in the region.

“Kasese is an emerging hub of opportunity. Infrastructure and amenity development is already underway, and we are creating an environment that supports investment and tourism growth,” he added.

The Minister further assured stakeholders that deliberate efforts are being made to expand accommodation capacity in anticipation of rising visitor numbers.

“We are working to ensure that accommodation capacity is expanded to reach up to 10,000 rooms. At the same time, we are developing more activities and experiences to support the expected growth in visitor numbers,” he emphasized.

The Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon has in recent years attracted both local and international athletes, as well as tourists, significantly boosting the hospitality and service sectors in Kasese District. Organizers say the fifth edition is expected to draw even bigger numbers, further cementing the event’s status as a key tourism and sports highlight in the Rwenzori sub-region
