The Mayor of Kawempe Division, Emmanuel Serunjoji Oweddembe, has urged Muslims in the division to embrace brotherhood, forgiveness, and generosity as they observe the holy month of Ramadan.
In his Ramadan message addressed to the Muslim community, Serunjoji conveyed warm wishes for a blessed fasting period and emphasized the spiritual significance of the month.
“This sacred month is a time for brotherhood, forgiveness, reflection, and giving,” he said. “Let us forgive one another, let go of grudges, and mend broken relationships.”
The mayor reminded believers of the Quranic teaching that calls for unity among Muslims, encouraging reconciliation and mutual support within families and communities.
“The believers are but brothers, so make reconciliation between your brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy,” he quoted, urging faithful to live by the scripture during the holy month.
Serunjoji also called on Muslims to dedicate time to reflection and meditation, seeking guidance from the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He noted that Ramadan offers an opportunity for spiritual renewal and moral discipline.
“May we be inspired to give generously and make sacrifices for the sake of Allah,” he added, reaffirming his commitment to supporting the Muslim community in Kawempe Division.
Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer, and acts of charity, is regarded as a period of deep spiritual reflection and community solidarity.
