Buganda Mourns Princess Diana Balizzamuggale

Buganda Kingdom is in mourning following the death of Princess Diana Balizzamuggale Teyeggala, the sister to Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II.

The sad news was announced by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, who described the passing as a great loss to the royal family and the kingdom at large.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Diana Balizzamuggale Teyeggala has been called by God,” Mayiga said in a statement shared on Saturday morning, confirming that the Princess had passed away after a period of illness.

Princess Diana Balizzamuggale was a daughter of the late Kabaka Edward Muteesa II and a younger sister to Kabaka Mutebi.

According to the Katikkiro, she had been battling illness for some time and had received medical care in various hospitals both within Uganda and abroad.

Mayiga said arrangements for her burial will be communicated in due course.

“We deeply sympathise with Your Majesty, Kabaka. This is a great loss and we have failed to protect you from this pain,” the Katikkiro added, conveying deep condolences to the Kabaka on behalf of the kingdom.

The death of the Princess has been received with widespread sorrow across Buganda, with many subjects and leaders expressing condolences to the royal family.

Further details regarding funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the Kingdom leadership.
