Going forward, government will no longer tolerate corruption in its ranks, Simon Lokodo, the minister for Ethics and Integrity announced yesterday.
Lokodo made the announcement while launching the Anti-corruption week at Constitutional Square ahead of the International Corruption Day slated for December 10.
He said they are going to involve religious leaders in the fight against corruption.
Lokodo said they are going to develop a national policy on religious and faith based organisations which will put the different religious sects at the forefront of fighting corruption.
The ministry has also translated the national corruption laws into the local languages to enable the public understand and appreciate their role in the fight against corruption.
The Inspector General of Government Irene Muryagonja revealed that besides the increase in human resource and money in the war against graft, there was still more to be done.
The minister for Public Service Muruli Mukasa advised the masses to be the lead actors in the fight against corruption and called on the security organs to give protection to people who provide information about corrupt officials.
