Kagadi District Local Government has launched a Shs100 million mechanized road maintenance project targeting the 17-kilometer Kabarungi–Rwemango–Nyakasozi–Kaisolya–Kinaga road in Kabamba Sub-county.

The project, financed under the Uganda Road Fund, is expected to improve transport infrastructure and strengthen connectivity across the sub-county.

The launch ceremony, held on Tuesday evening at Nyakasozi Trading Centre, was presided over by the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Carloine Nashemeza.

She urged the district’s Works Department to collaborate with local leaders for proper monitoring and to guard against substandard works.

District Chairperson Ndibwami B. Yosia emphasized the need for commitment from road equipment operators and Works Department officials to complete the project within the set three weeks.

He also appealed to residents to support the initiative by contributing murram and other locally available materials to extend the project’s impact.

District Supervisor of Works, Charles Byaruhanga, outlined the scope of activities, including bush clearing, heavy grading, shaping, and general maintenance tasks aimed at restoring the road to motorable condition.

Officials say the project will ease transport challenges in Kabamba, improving livelihoods and boosting trade in the area once completed.
