Ugandans have been urged to always come to the help of the needy as part of efforts to promote sustainable development.
"We call upon individuals, companies and organisations to always give back to the vulnerable'. You dont need to have alot of wealth but rather a big heart," said Rubis Energy Uganda’s Country Manager, Olivier Gatera.
He was speaking during the handover of logistical support to Bethlehem Children's Home in Busega Kampala on Wednesday.
During the function, Rubis Energy helped ease the faith-based organization's daily logistical operations at a time when the Missionaries of the Poor continues to stretch its resources to care for children with disabilities, the mentally challenged, elderly individuals abandoned by their families, and street children from refugee and slum communities.
Speaking during the function, Brother Joachim, the caretaker priest at the home said they have been operating in Uganda since 2000, and currently houses over 400 residents across two shelters and provide outreach services to more than 700 homes in surrounding communities.
“We receive children from police stations, from local councils, and even directly at our gate. These are the ones forgotten or rejected by society. Here, we give them hope. We live entirely by donations and assistance from well-wishers. We dont have any income generating projects and therefore have to depend on such well-wishers like Rubis Energies," Bro.Joachim said.
He anchored his message in scripture, citing Isaiah 58:6–8 to describe their mission.
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen... to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter?” Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord. Those who give to the poor will lack nothing. Rubis Energy Uganda, your support today means so much to us. Thank you for not forgetting the least among us. May your generosity bring blessings upon your company and all who work with you.”
According to Olivier Gatera the Rubis Energies Country Manager, this initiative is not a one-time gesture but part of a broader strategy to create sustainable community impact.
“We are proud to partner with organizations that show a clear commitment to serving humanity, especially those that often lack consistent funding,” he said.
Officials said Rubis Energy Uganda has built a strong reputation for responsible engagement, previously partnering with SOS Children’s Villages to provide LPG solutions and with Rotaract Uganda on environmental and menstrual health campaigns.
The company’s CSR approach is guided by three pillars: reducing its environmental carbon footprint, ensuring a safe and empowering workplace, and actively supporting community development.
"By partnering with the Missionaries of the Poor, Rubis Energy Uganda is not only fulfilling its CSR commitments but also standing in solidarity with a mission grounded in dignity, compassion, and service. "
