The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, has announced that Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono will be the lead organizer for next year's Martyrs Day celebrations.

This marks a significant milestone, as it will be the first time the university has organized the event.

Speaking at this year's Martyrs Day celebrations at the Anglican Shrine in Namugongo, Archbishop Mugalu expressed his excitement about the opportunity.

"As the Chancellor of the University, I will be at the forefront of organizing this celebration, and I ask all believers to support the cause of a colorful event next year," he said.

The Archbishop's announcement has generated enthusiasm among the faithful, who look forward to a grand celebration.

UCU Mukono's hosting of the event is expected to bring a new level of organization and participation, leveraging the university's resources and expertise.

The Martyrs Day celebrations, which commemorate the lives of the Ugandan martyrs who were persecuted for their faith, have been organized by different dioceses through their clusters in the past.

The Church of Uganda's decision to entrust UCU Mukono with this responsibility underscores the university's growing role in promoting faith and community engagement.
