The management of the Mezo Noir bar in Bukoto has announced reopening soon.

"Following the unfortunate incident, we decided to temporarily close to allow Uganda Police and the relevant justice sector stakeholders to conduct investigations. The investigations have found our staff innocent, and they have subsequently been released from police custody. Any contrary rumours in the media are false, malicious, unfounded, and please treat them with the disdain and contempt they deserve," the statement read in part.

The management further notes that the general public and esteemed customers will be notified as and when the doors will be open.

"We will advise you on the exact date when our doors shall be opened again, but assure you that this will be very soon."

Mezo Noir, a popular nightclub in the upscale Kololo suburb, temporarily closed on  March, 21, 2025 following the tragic death of a customer named Martha Murari, 23.

She  reportedly collapsed on the fateful night after ingesting an alcoholic beverage suspected to have been tampered with by one of the club’s staff members.

Hours later, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
