The Minister for Agriculture, Frank Tumwebaze, has expressed strong opposition to the proposed amendments in the rules of procedures of Parliament, specifically those related to the dress code.

Tumwebaze criticized the ban on Kaunda suits and the requirement to wear neck-ties, calling it "unacceptable" and "illogical."

"Banning Kaunda suits and forcing us to 'strangle ourselves' with neck-ties is unacceptable to most of us. It has no logic," Tumwebaze stated.

He further revealed that some lawmakers intend to raise a formal petition or motion to amend the proposed changes.

Tumwebaze's comments reflect a growing sentiment among some Ugandan lawmakers who feel that the dress code amendments are unnecessary and restrictive.

The proposed changes have sparked a debate about cultural identity, personal freedom, and the role of tradition in modern Ugandan society.

As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Tumwebaze's opposition will gain traction and lead to a revision of the proposed amendments.
