The tragic incident took place at around 9am. in Kakondi Village, Wabinyonyi Sub-county, along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
According to police reports, the accident involved three vehicles: a Toyota Hiace with registration number UBL 232G, a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration number UFG 032M), and a bicycle.
The Toyota Hiace, traveling from Gulu toward Kampala, collided with the motorcycle as it was attempting to cross the road, the vehicle then struck a cyclist and a pedestrian before coming to a halt.
The deceased have been identified as 62-year-old Steven Semwanga, a resident of Sikaye Village in Wabinyonyi Sub-county, and 17-year-old Shadia Nakalumba from the same area.
Semwanga was riding the bicycle, while Nakalumba was on the motorcycle at the time of the crash and both were pronounced dead at the scene
The injured pedestrian, identified as 15-year-old Rehemah Namwoya , was rushed to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for urgent medical treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were transported to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for postmortem examinations, and the involved vehicles have been impounded for further investigation.
ASP Twineamazima Sam, the spokesperson for Savannah Region, confirmed the incident and urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly on busy highways like Kampala-Gulu.
